myBIC tiles

Which tiles are displayed in myBIC?

Every user can open the myBIC menu item in the left menu bar. On the myBIC page, you see a personal overview in the form of tiles. The displayed tiles depend on your favorites, your role, and your organization’s settings. If no tiles are available, a corresponding message is shown.

The screenshot shows an example of a filled myBIC page.

The following tile types may be displayed:

Start diagram:
This tile is displayed if a company-wide start diagram is defined. It contains a preview of the diagram and serves as a central entry point.

Standard favorites:
These tiles are defined by the administrator in the administration area. They are visible to all users and cannot be removed. They are displayed in alphabetical order.

Checked out by you:
This tile is shown to users with the Administrator, Editor, and Author roles. It contains:

  • locally created diagrams that have not yet been checked in

  • checked-out diagrams that have not yet been checked in

The diagrams are sorted by the date of the last change in descending order. The diagram name and the associated repository are displayed in your content language. If a diagram was renamed locally, the original name is still shown.

Warning

Checked-out diagrams are locked for other users. If an administrator unlocks and deletes a diagram, it remains visible locally. When trying to check it in, an error message is displayed.

Favorites:
This tile is displayed as soon as you have marked at least one diagram as a favorite. It contains:

  • all favorite diagrams

  • displayed in alphabetical order

  • name and repository in your content language

Catalog list:
A separate tile is displayed for each catalog list favorite. The tile shows:

  • the selected name

  • the number of included catalog items

  • the entries themselves

For each entry, you see:

  • name

  • symbol type

  • date of last change

If there are many entries, you can scroll within the tile.

Dashboard:
A separate tile is displayed for each dashboard favorite. The tile shows:

  • a preview of the dashboard

  • an icon based on diagram or catalog

Search result:
A separate tile is displayed for each saved search result. The tile shows:

  • the name of the search favorite

  • the number of results

  • the included entries

For each entry, you see:

  • name

  • type

  • date of last change

If there are many results, you can scroll within the tile.

Additional information:
For the Favorites, Catalog list, Dashboard, and Search result tiles, a context menu is available. Using this menu, you can:

  • rename the item

  • remove a favorite

For the Favorites tile, you can also enable or disable notifications. For more information, see the Favorites chapter.

Hint

Please note that Favorites depend on the selected focus. A favorite is only displayed in the focus in which it was saved. Content can be saved as a favorite in multiple focuses.

Hint

Please note that the titles of the tiles depend on your browser language. The content of the tiles is displayed in the selected content language.

Hint

Please note that the content of saved searches does not automatically change if you change the content language later. The content will continue to be displayed in the content language and alternative language that were active at the time the search was saved. When clicking on the Favorites tile, a hint is displayed. This hint tells you that the search language may not match the currently selected content language or alternative language.

Note

A diagram preview is shown if the diagram has been changed since version 5.3.0 and is located in Preview or Publication. Otherwise, a default preview is displayed.

Focus

The focus controls which content you see and work with in BIC. It helps you concentrate on a specific area, such as processes or enterprise architecture.

You can select the focus in the top right of the header using the focus drop-down menu.

The screenshot shows the closed focus drop-down menu with the selected focus "Process Management".

Which focus can I select?

Every user can open the focus drop-down menu in the top right of the header. All available focuses are displayed:

  • Process Management

  • Enterprise Architecture

  • Process Execution

The screenshot shows the opened focus drop-down menu with the selected focus "Process Management" and the additional focuses "Enterprise Architecture" and "Process Execution".

The available focuses depend on the products your organization uses. Unavailable focuses are shown in grey and cannot be selected.

What effect does the focus have?

Every user can change the focus at any time to filter content. The focus is available throughout the application. Open the focus drop-down menu in the top right of the header and select the desired focus.

The screenshot shows the opened focus drop-down menu with the selected focus "Enterprise Architecture".

Process Management and Enterprise Architecture
If you select the Process Management or Enterprise Architecture focus, nothing changes in the application itself. The focus only affects how favorites are displayed on the myBIC page. A favorite is only shown on the myBIC page of the focus in which it was saved. You can save the same content as a favorite in multiple focuses.

Note

A company-wide start diagram is always displayed on your myBIC page, regardless of the selected focus.

Hint

Please note that the Enterprise Architecture focus requires a separate license.

After selecting a focus, the myBIC page of the selected focus is loaded automatically.

Note

Your selected focus is saved. The next time you log in, the previously selected focus is opened automatically.

Process Execution
If you select the Process Execution focus, you are redirected to BIC Process Execution.

What happens if a focus is no longer available?

If a focus is no longer available, it is replaced automatically. This can happen, for example, if a product is no longer used. In this case, the Process Management focus is set automatically at the next login. This ensures that you always work with a valid focus.
